PG&E has announced possible planned power outages that are expected to take effect on Wednesday and/or Thursday, October 23 and 24.
At the moment, the South San Francisco Unified School District is NOT within the zones of the possible outages, so we do NOT anticipate being affected and do NOT anticipate any changes to our programs.
PG&E has not confirmed the power outages will take place, so this message is being sent as a precautionary measure only.
As stated in PG&E's press release, "Due to forecasted extreme weather conditions and dry fuels, PG&E is considering proactively turning off power for safety, and implementing a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), across portions of 17 Sierra Foothills and North Bay counties.
At this time, no PSPS has been called, and PG&E will provide updates several times a day.
Portions of counties that may be impacted include, but are not limited to: Amador, Butte, Colusa, El Dorado, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, San Joaquin, Solano, Sonoma, Tehama, Yolo and Yuba. This potential event, if initiated, is expected to be significantly smaller in terms of scope and impact than the Oct. 9-12 PSPS event.”
For further information and updates regarding the areas that may be affected by the outages, please visit PG&E’s website (www.pge.com). PG&E’s press release about the possible outages is accessible here.
We will notify you if PG&E updates their coverage zones and proceeds with any possible outages that could impact our schools.
At that time, we will share any information we have about the duration of the outage and our plans, including possible schedule modifications or school closures if necessary.
