Dear South San Francisco Unified School District Community,
Please be aware that PG&E has announced possible planned power outages that may possibly take effect this week. At the moment, the South San Francisco Unified School District is not within the zones of the possible outages, so we do not anticipate being affected and do not anticipate any changes to our programs. PG&E has not confirmed the power outages will take place, so this message is being sent as a precautionary measure only.
As stated in PG&E’s current Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) alert message, “Weather conditions, including potential fire risk, have been forecast that may impact electric service to portions of our service area…If you live in these communities, PG&E will attempt to contact you via telephone, text and email.”
At this time, PG&E has not confirmed whether or not a PSPS will be in effect, and the portions of San Mateo County that may be impacted include, but are not limited to: La Honda and Pescadero. This potential event, if initiated, could last longer than 48 hours.
For further information and updates regarding the areas that may be affected by the outages, please visit PG&E’s website. PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) alert message is accessible here.
We will notify you if PG&E updates their coverage zones and proceeds with any possible outages that could impact our schools. At that time, we would share any information we have about the duration of the outage and our plans, including possible schedule modifications or school closures if necessary.
