I am the son of Missouri bootheel sharecroppers: Mama and Daddy literally grew up picking cotton. I am the first college graduate on either side of my family, and I love this district.
This is the happiest I have been at work since 2012!
SSFUSD: Why did you decide to work in education?
JM: In third grade, I had a vice principal tell me I "think too much," and I attended three different high schools and met maybe two or three teachers who had an impact on me, most of which was related to life lessons. I wanted to make a difference—immediately. I'm passionate about helping teenagers become self-sustaining adults.
SSFUSD: What's your greatest strength?
JM: Patience
