A Perfect Bookend
The South San Francisco High School girls' varsity soccer team returned to the CCS title game one year after losing in the finals the previous year. This time they prevailed, winning the school's first-ever championship trophy in the sport. Along the way, they overcame uncertainty caused by an entire school year spent in distance learning and a lingering sense of loss and isolation produced by COVID-19 over the past 14 months.
